Replacing a Victron Cerbo

How to replace a Cerbo GX with no loss of data, I do not know.

I replaced my old, still working, but continuously restarting Cerbo GX and had still to reinstall some settings.

Replacing a Victron Color Control or Cerbo GX by a new one

The procedure is simpel but in the internet I found some different ways to do it. That is why I wrote my own experience.

  • Replace the old Cerbo by the new one and do not forget to swap the Micro SD Card also.
  • Plug the new Cerbo GX in to a LAN or connect to wifi with the the Victron Conecct app.
  • After this do NOT change any settings on the new Cerbo but just login to the VRM via a browser via this link.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page to : Replace an existing GX device. Click on it and fill out , VRM Portal ID of replacement device whick you find printed on the new device.
  • That’s all

Lost settings:

  • Access tot Cerbo via local network or VRM
    • Via settings VRM online portal you can change these permissions
  • Local IP address changed
    • I check my Vixtron status oft via an iPad in the driver cabin. Therefore I need the local Cerbo IP address to login
  • Time and time zone where reset.
  • In settings menu I had to enable: Has DC system
  • Extra sensors where lost

Lost sensors

The extra sensors where not visible anymore. Therefore I added them again and also via the settings menu I had to change the sensor type, name etc.

First, via the VRM/Cerbo menu I/O I added my bluetooth temperature sensors and via analog input the watertank meter and the extra Victron battery temperature sensor.

Ruuvi bluetooth thermometer via Devices menu, I could change sensor type, name, etc

Analog watermeter via Devices menu I changed the type of sensor, Tank capacity, Fluid type and the unit to liters.
